Francis Clavel

Francis Clavel is truly a role model and example for his peers at Pittsburg High School. At 18-years old, this 12th grader is an honor roll student who has received numerous academic awards, including being named an AP Scholar with Distinction, an Academic Achiever and a Class Medalist in 2008 and 2009, which means he ranked #1 in his class both years.

As Pittsburg High’s Student Body President, he is active in school leadership and school clubs including the Key Club, Mu Alpha Theta Club and the California Scholarship Federation. In addition, Francis demonstrates his commitment to his community by volunteering at many City of Pittsburg events. He’s raised money for UNICEF, and is a frequent leader of the school’s student leadership clothes drive, turkey drive and blood drive campaigns. He also volunteers with the Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce.

A four-year member of the school’s marching band, he serves as the Tenor Sax Section Leader and has spent countless hours volunteering his time to perform on weekends and holidays. Francis is also a Peer Leader for the Church of the Good Shepherd Youth Ministry where he teaches children who are going

into their first reconciliation and first communion.

Francis is a great example of what it means to commit yourself to educational excellence and your community.
