Bay Area Leadership Foundation

Founded: September 2000
Mission: To provide economically disadvantaged youth throughout the region with the support and resources to move through high school, college, and back to their communities as employable, successful leaders.
Objectives:
  1. Increase student achievement and prepare students for college and careers
  2. Enable students to complete college entrance academic requirements
  3. Encourage students to become leaders through community service and experiential internship opportunities
  4. Improve life skills via peer mentoring for transition to and during college
  5. Increase student scholastic proficiency
  6. Participate in community activities that promote information technology literacy
ACCESS: The Academic, College, and Career Exposure for Student Success (ACCESS) Program is BALF’s mentoring and counselling program for students grades 10-12.
Founder: Vintage Foster, Chair of the Bay Area Leadership Foundation and
President of AMF Media Group
Students: As of May 2010, BALF has supported more than 140 students from economically disadvantaged cities of Richmond, Vallejo, Oakland, Pittsburg, and San Jose. In 2010, 16 students graduated from the ACCESS Program.
